Phare de SaintMathieu
The Abbey of Saint-Mathieu was once a Breton monastery, the ruins of which are nowadays found in the commune of Plougonvelin on Pointe Saint-Mathieu. The landmark is located in the department of Finistère - a part of Brittany France. According to an old local fable, the original monastery was established on the spot by Saint Tanguy as far.

Le phare de Saint-Mathieu Le phare de Saint-Mathieu rappelle l'histoire des moines qui allumaient un feu en haut d'une tour de l'abbaye pour guider les navires en mer d'Iroise au 13e siècle. Haut de 37 m (58m au-dessus du niveau de la mer), le phare actuel est édifié en 1835 pour cause de délabrement de la tour de l'abbaye.

Le phare de Saint-Mathieu a été construit en granit venu de l'Aber-Ildut, à l'instar de son voisin du Minou. Inauguré le 15 juin 1835, également du fait du délabrement de la tour de l'abbaye, il fonctionne d'abord à l'huile de colza, puis au pétrole avant d'être électrifié dans les années 1930.
